Forest row is a buzzing village full of independent shops, restaurants and pubs, all within a few minutes walk from your doorstep.
There’s always something happening nearby. Visit the popular Mansion Market at Michael Hall or enjoy the views at Tablehurst Farm. Or why not catch a weekend workshops at Emerson College or the Tobias Art School. Time your visit right and you might even catch the Forest Row Festival.
If you love a good night out the Hop Yard is the place to hang out, featuring live music and top DJs. Or maybe you fancy their monthly folk sessions - bring an instrument and join in.
Love to eat out? Don’t miss Java & Jazz for great pizza or Thai Time for top-notch Thai food — both local favourites. If you prefer to cook, stock up on organic ingredients at Seasons just down the road.
The eclectic international vibe is the result of 100 years of Steiner Waldorf influence, thanks to the location of the Michael Hall school on the fringes of the village. Scientology also has its UK headquarters and a school nearby, making for an eclectic mix of inhabitants and visitors. There are numerous creative schools, events and courses that will appeal to the artistically minded or anyone interested Anthroposophy, spirituality or Waldorf education.
Explore the open heathland and woodland trails of Ashdown Forest from your doorstep, and don’t miss a visit to the original Pooh Sticks Bridge, followed by a cuppa at Pooh Corner Café. Bring your bikes and cycle along the Forest Way and take sailing lessons, wild swim or enjoy the views at the cafe at Weir Wood reservoir.
Hyrst is an Old English word meaning "wooded hill" and Hyrst Rise is situated on a hill with far reaching views of tree covered slopes leading into Ashdown Forest.
For a dose of history, head to nearby National Trust properties: Standen House is a fabulous Arts & Crafts home with stunning views, and Sheffield Park & Gardens has a delightful lake and glorious seasonal colour. Visit nearby historic East Grinstead, with theatre, cinema and boutique shops. Nutley, Uckfield, Crowborough and Crawley all within easy reach. Based in Forest Row you are well placed to explore the best of beautiful Sussex.
You’ll have exclusive access to the entire apartment. Guest access is via the shared front door and up a large internal staircase two floors. There is also a small lift, but the flat is not really suitable for anyone with access issues.
